EVANSTON, Wyo. — A wildfire burning in the Uinta Mountains about 30 miles south of Evanston since Thursday was likely caused by a campfire, fire officials said Sunday.

The 65-acre fire did not grow significantly on Saturday, according to Jason Curry of the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire & State Lands. As of Sunday, it was 45 percent contained, officials said.

Crews were expected to continue building containment lines around the fire.

Officials think the fire began in relation to a campfire on private property in the Monviso subdivisions — an area with seasonal cabins and nearby campsites. "This adds to the growing list of wildfires in Utah caused by careless use, and leadership from local, state and federal agencies are increasing patrols for abandoned campfires," Curry said in a press release.

About eight cabins in the area remain under evacuation orders Sunday, but all the nearby campgrounds are open to the public.

The Mirror Lake Highway is also open.
