LOGAN — A Utah State University officer was hit by a car while helping direct traffic after a separate crash in Logan Thursday afternoon, officials said.

The officer was assisting Logan Police manage traffic following an accident on U.S. 89 near 1200 East when a female driver in a black Honda Pilot turned onto the road and hit the officer about 1:15 p.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Todd Royce.

The officer rolled onto the hood of the car and was carried about 20 feet at speeds of 10 to 15 mph before the driver of the Pilot stopped the car, Royce said.

The officer was transported to Logan Regional Hospital in fair condition with minor injuries and has since been released.

Police closed 1200 E. U.S. 89 near USU's campus for a little over an hour following the two crashes. The road has since reopened.

The officer's identity was not released. The incident is still under investigation.
