KNOLLS RECREATION AREA, West Desert — Two people were injured in two separate dirt bike accidents during a motorcycle race Saturday, officials said.
The first accident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. A man suffered injuries to his lower body and was flown by AirMed to a nearby hospital in stable condition, according to Tamsen Johnson, ranger with the Bureau of Land Management.
At about 12:15 p.m., another crash took place in which a male minor suffered a wrist fracture and possible internal injuries, Johnson said. He was also flown by AirMed to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Information about what led to each crash was not immediately available.
The crashes are unrelated, officials confirmed, but both victims were participants in the Knolls Knockout, a race organized by the Utah Desert Foxes Motorcycle Club.
