YUMA, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say a Belgian parajumper has died during a training exercise in southwestern Arizona.

Officials with Marine Corps Air Station Yuma say the Belgian Special Operations Forces requested help late Tuesday to find the parajumper, whose name hasn't been released.

They say the parajumper was located about 2 a.m. Wednesday in the area of the MCAS Yuma Range and was already dead.

The body was taken to a Yuma hospital.

Marine officials called the death a "tragic accident," but say the incident is under investigation.

Members of the Belgian Special Operations Forces usually are selected from the paracommando units of the Belgian Army.

They must have at least three years' experience in the military — preferably as a paracommando — to join the Special Operations Forces.
