WEST VALLEY CITY — A man suffered a broken leg after he was struck by a vehicle Tuesday evening, officials report.

The man, who authorities only identified as being in his early 70s, was walking near 2910 S. Redwood Road when he crossed the street from the west side to the east, according to West Valley Police Lt. Steve Burke. When he got to the middle northbound lane, he was struck by a car.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital with a broken leg.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, Burke said.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
