WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — J.R. Lynch scored 17 points and Hartford beat New Hampshire 65-56 on Wednesday night.

Lynch was 6 of 10 from the floor including three from distance for the Hawks (17-11, 10-4 America East Conference) who have won three straight and are tied with UMBC for second place in the conference standings, three games behind Vermont. John Carroll added 13 points with nine rebounds, Jason Dunne had 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists and Hassan Attia chipped in 10 points with six rebounds and four blocked shots.

The Hawks trailed by one at the break but opened the second half with an Attia dunk followed by a Lynch jumper to take a 35-32 lead. Attia and Carroll each made another dunk after that to help push it to 44-39 with 14:36 to play. New Hampshire tied it at 56-all with 2:48 left but Lynch answered with a 3-pointer and a layup back-to-back to stretch it to 61-56 with 1:09 remaining.

Elijah Jordan scored 14 points to lead the Wildcats (10-19, 6-9) who are on a four-game skid.
