PROVO — Even more criminal charges have been filed against a man who was the focus of a four-day manhunt after he allegedly broke into a Herriman home and shot the homeowner and also fired at police.

Justin Llewelyn, 33, who is listed in new court documents as being from Wellington, Carbon County, faces new charges of theft by receiving stolen property, a second-degree felony, and failing to stop for a police officer, a third-degree felony.

He is already charged in one case in 3rd District Court with two counts of attempted aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary, all first-degree felonies; criminal mischief, a third-degree felony; and failing to stop at the command of a law enforcer, a class A misdemeanor. And Llewelyn is charged in another case with theft by receiving stolen property, a second-degree felony; drug possession, a third-degree felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor; and driving on a suspended license, a class C misdemeanor, for crimes he allegedly committed before the shooting.

In total, he now faces nine felonies and three misdemeanors in three separate cases filed against him in 2018.

Those charges are in addition to two cases filed in 2017 that are still ongoing. In those cases, Llewelyn faces theft, drug possession and firearms-related charges, according to court records.

Llewelyn is accused of shooting at a Unified police officer on Jan. 20, in the area of 13400 S. Mountain View Corridor, and then breaking into a nearby home where he shot the homeowner and stole his car, according to charging documents. The homeowner survived.

Investigators believe some members of Llewelyn's family helped him escape to Utah County and then lied to police about what they knew. Three of Llewelyn's family members also face obstruction of justice charges.

Following an intense four-day manhunt, Llewelyn was spotted by the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Strike Force on Jan. 24 in a stolen pickup truck at Bicentennial Park, 1600 E. 1440 South, in Provo.

Justin Llewelyn, the man who sparked a five-day manhunt after allegedly shooting a homeowner and firing at two police officers, told others he would rather be killed by officers than go to jail, police say.

The ensuing 20-minute, 10-mile chase on U.S. 89 through Springville into Spanish Fork ended when a Utah County sheriff's deputy used his vehicle to stop Llewelyn, resulting in a crash.

Llewelyn's new charges are in connection with the chase, which reached speeds of up to 70 mph, according to charging documents. During that time, he allegedly ran several lights and "also went through at least one crosswalk where pedestrians were crossing the street."

His next court hearing is scheduled for March 1 in West Jordan.
