SAINT BONAVENTURE, N.Y. (AP) — Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley combined for 60 points and nine 3-pointers to propel St. Bonaventure to a 98-78 victory over Massachusetts in an Atlantic 10 Conference opener on Saturday.
Adams finished with a season-high 32 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range, and added seven assists for the Bonnies (11-2), who picked up their eighth straight victory to extend their longest win streak since the 1970-71 season. Mobley scored 28 and also sank 10 of his 16 shots, 5 of 10 from long range. Idris Taqqee grabbed 12 rebounds and reserve Courtney Stockard scored 10.
St. Bonaventure beat the Minutemen (7-7) for the sixth straight time and has won 10 of the last 12 meetings. UMass leads the all-time series 41-29.
Luwane Pipkins scored 17 to lead the Minutemen, who fell to 0-6 on the road. Malik Hines scored 16, while C.J. Anderson added 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
The Bonnies shot 56 percent and hit 8 of 11 from 3-point range to open up a 47-38 halftime lead.
