Francis hits 4 3s, scores 18; Wagner beat Mt. St. Mary's

NEW YORK (AP) — Blake Francis scored 18 points, including four 3-pointers, Elijah Davis and JoJo Cooper each had a double-double and Wagner beat Mt. St. Mary's 76-57 on Friday night in the Northeast Conference opener for both teams.

Davis had 14 points and a career-high tying 10 rebounds, while Cooper finished with 10 points, 10 assists and nine boards, for Wagner (8-4), which snapped a three-game skid.

The Seahawks opened with 12-4 run and led the rest of the way. Francis made a 3 to make it 21-11, four consecutive free throws by Chase Freeman gave Wagner a 13-point lead and Shack Scott's dunk made it 34-24 going into the break. Davis made two layups during an 8-0 spurt that pushed the lead to 42-26 early in the second half. Junior Robinson's layup pulled the Mountaineers within eight points, but Francis hit back-to-back 3s during a 12-0 run that made it 60-40 with eight minutes and Wagner led by double figures the rest of the way.

Robinson led Mt. St. Mary's (6-8) with 19 points on 6-of-20 shooting. The Mountaineers, who had won three in a row, shot just 35 percent from the field, including 4 of 17 from 3-point range.
