FARMINGTON — A teenager accused of killing a man during a low-level drug deal now faces more charges.
Seth Carreras, 17, of Layton, was charged Friday in 2nd District Court with assault by a prisoner, a third-degree felony.
On Dec. 2, while being held at the Farmington Bay Juvenile Detention Center, Carreras "kicked a staff member in the leg. The defendant had to be restrained by multiple staff members until he calmed down," the charges state.
Carreras already faces a charge of murder, a first-degree felony, in 2nd District Court for the Nov. 21 shooting death of 19-year-old Hunter Woodson. Carreras was allegedly trying to buy marijuana from Woodson at Woodson's home in Sunset but was sold spices instead, angering Carreras and prompting him to pull out a gun and shoot Woodson, according to charging documents.
Seven shell casings were recovered by police inside Woodson's home.
Carreras was later arrested at his home in Layton. His next court hearing was scheduled for Jan. 5.
