SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Freshman Shelby Adams led five Texas State players in double figures with a career-high 17 points and the Bobcats beat Division III McMurry 100-50 on Wednesday night.
Adams was 5-of-7 shooting and added a career-best five steals. It was Texas State's highest-scoring game since a 103-76 win over Houston Baptist on Dec. 3, 2011.
McMurry's Darius Watts hit a 3-pointer 10 seconds in, but the War Hawks missed their next eight field-goal attempts as Texas State (5-4) scored the next 24 points. The Bobcats took a 28-point lead into the break and, after Immanuel King's layup to open the second half, led by at least 30.
King finished with 14 points, Reggie Miller and Isaiah Gurley scored 13 apiece and Nijal Pearson added 12 points for Texas State.
Watts led McMurry with 12 points, all on 3-pointers.
