SANDY — Unified police located a 1-year-old boy late Saturday morning who had been missing since Friday evening.

Elias Valdez was picked up by his father, Blas Valdez, Friday morning and was supposed to be returned to family members by 5 p.m. The family was concerned about the father’s mental state and contacted authorities when he had not returned the boy by the designated time.

Details about where the boy was found were not immediately available.

The department also said via Twitter the boy’s father was being evaluated by detectives.
