SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Los Angeles Galaxy goalie Kevin Hartman allowed a goal through his legs for the only score of the game in Real Salt Lake's 1-0 win Wednesday night.

R-S-L forward Jeff Cunningham took the shot in the 60th minute and it skidded low off a kneeling Hartman's right leg and through his hands. It was Cunningham's 15th of the season.

Real Salt Lake (9-11-and-5) is in fifth place in the Western Conference. Four teams from each division make the playoffs.

Goalie Scott Garlick preserved the victory with a successful challenge against a streaking Alan Gordon on a breakaway in the 80th minute.

Los Angeles (8-12-and-5) is in last place in the Western Conference.

Andy Williams missed a penalty kick in extra time in the second half for Real Salt Lake.

Galaxy forward Landon Donovan was held in check, for the most part, as two and three defenders consistently closed in on him.
