Kommersant, one of Russia's leading business dailies and a rare outlet for criticism of the Kremlin, has been sold to Kremlin-connected metals magnate Alisher Usmanov, Kommersant's general director said Wednesday, news agency Interfax reported.
"It's possible that not every detail of the deal has been completed, but it can be talked about as an established fact," said general director Demyan Kudryavtsev.
The paper was sold by its previous owner, Georgian entrepreneur Badri Patarkatsishvili, to metals megnate Alisher Usmanov, who has close ties to the Kremlin and state gas monopoly Gazprom, for an undisclosed sum.
