WEBER COUNTY — The Uintah Fire has been 100 percent contained, fire officials announced on Sunday.
Weber Fire District officials have placed the fire into “monitoring status” and will continue patrolling the fire at random for the next 5 to 7 days, officials from the agency said.
The fire started Tuesday as strong winds fanned the flames into Weber Canyon.
Residents east of U.S. 89 in Uintah were forced to evacuate, but they were able to return to their homes Thursday night.
The fire caused damage to 18 structures, including 3 homes that were completely destroyed and 2 others damaged, according to Weber Fire District. Four other structures, such as sheds and outbuildings, were destroyed and 8 were damaged.
One commercial property was damaged.
The cost of fire suppression efforts was $849,000 as of Friday.
