Millions of Americans watched the third and final debate between presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama. Our exclusive KSL-TV poll by Dan Jones and Associates indicates the debate didn't sway many votes.
Every person but one who we talked with on Salt Lake's streets rated their interest in the presidential election as a 10, the highest possible. Not all watched the debate, but more thought Obama won.
A woman said, "It just seems everybody's leaning toward Obama."
Our KSL-TV Dan Jones poll shows a slim majority of Utahns agree. Yet, if the election were held today, most Utahns polled still plan to vote for John McCain.
"I still like the experience he's had in the past," one woman said.
Another woman explained, "Because I trust him, I admire him, I respect his sacrifices for our country."
"I not only trust him, he's given a great service to our country," a man said.
Another man said, "After hearing Obama firsthand, I wouldn't be opposed to him being president. But I would prefer McCain."
In fact, many analysts and pundits say the real winner of last night's debate was the often-mentioned Joe the plumber.
