CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Atlantic Coast Conference has long been considered the step child lurking in the shadows of what was supposedly the stronger, tougher Southeastern Conference. The perception is changing after a four-year run that includes two national championships and two Heisman Trophy winners. The ACC and SEC look awfully similar, from their top tiers and divisional imbalances to their Southern-stronghold recruiting bases in overlapping geographic footprints.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Florida State is the preseason pick to win the Atlantic Coast Conference and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson of Louisville is the preseason player of the year. That's after a poll of 167 media members attending last week's media days in Charlotte. The Seminoles also were picked as the favorites in the Atlantic Division while cross-state rival Miami was the top choice in the Coastal.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — The 2017 preseason Atlantic Coast Conference predicted order of finish and player of the year voting, announced Monday by the league and determined by a vote of 167 media members at the conference's media days last week, with first-place votes in parentheses.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson defensive lineman Christian Wilkins is ready for the spotlight. The 310-pound junior believes he will capably be the face of the reigning national champion Tigers this season. Wilkins has made his mark the first two seasons, both on and off the field. Wilkins rallied teammates to dress up like the Power Rangers last Halloween and his post title-game dance delighted social media.
