CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Atlantic Coast Conference has long been considered the step child lurking in the shadows of what was supposedly the stronger, tougher Southeastern Conference. The perception is changing after a four-year run that includes two national championships and two Heisman Trophy winners. The ACC and SEC look awfully similar, from their top tiers and divisional imbalances to their Southern-stronghold recruiting bases in overlapping geographic footprints.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida receiver Antonio Callaway has pleaded no contest to misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Prosecutors dropped a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge as part of the plea deal. State Attorney Bill Cervone says the deal was standard for cases involving small amounts of drugs. Callaway also was fined $301.
