Improvement in statewide Proficiency Assessments for Wyoming Students scores occurred in math and science, while reading registered a slight decline.

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) — A cadaver search dog has found a man's body in southwestern Wyoming. Officials in Sweetwater County say the body found Tuesday is likely related to a 2015 missing person case. Sheriff Mike Lowell says an autopsy is planned to confirm the identification.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Farmers in the U.S. West face a creepy scourge every eight years or so: Swarms of ravenous insects that can decimate crops and cause slippery, bug-slick car crashes as they march across highways and roads. Experts say this year could be a banner one for the 3-inch-long Mormon crickets, named after the Mormon pioneers that learned the bug's devastating effect on forage and grain fields. The swarms are affecting Idaho, Oregon and other Western states.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — An inmate at the Laramie County jail who was charged last month with the attempted murder of a fellow inmate has had the charge dismissed. The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports Circuit Judge Denise Nau ruled Wednesday there was not probable cause to support the charge against Victor Jackson, so she dismissed it. Nau previously dismissed a count of aiding and abetting attempted murder against Jackson's brother, Duane Jackson.
