MIAMI (AP) — Robinson Cano (kah-NOH') led off the 10th inning with a homer off Wade Davis to lead the American League to a 2-1 victory over the National League in the 88th All-Star game at Miami. Cano was added to the squad as an injury replacement and became the first player to hit an extra-inning homer in the All-Star game since Tony Perez exactly 50 years earlier. Mookie Betts doubled and scored the game's first run on a single by Miguel Sano (sah-NOH') in the fifth, one inning before Yadier (YAH'-dee-ehr) Molina tied it with a solo shot.

MIAMI (AP) — The all-time All-Star series is now tied for the first time since 1964, with the American and National Leagues each winning 43 times with two ties. The junior circuit is 17-3-1 in the series since the NL blanked the AL, 6-0 in 1996. Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano (kah-NOH') was named the MVP of Tuesday's game after providing the tiebreaking blast in extra innings.

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — The International Olympic Committee has tentatively awarded the 2024 and 2028 Summer Games to Los Angeles and Paris, while allowing the two cities to select their hosting year. IOC members voted unanimously Tuesday to seek a consensus three-way deal between the two bid cities and the committee's executive board. If L.A. and Paris can't come to an agreement on hosting order, only the 2024 rights will be voted on when the IOC next meets in September.

LONDON (AP) — Men's second seed Novak Djokovic (JOH'-koh-vihch) has advanced to the Wimbledon quarterfinals with a 6-2, 7-6, 6-4 victory over Adrian Mannarino. Women's second seed Simona Halep (HA'-lehp) was knocked out in the quarters by No. 6 Johanna Konta, and 87th-ranked Magdalena Rybarikova moved into Thursday's semifinals with a 6-3, 6-3 decision over No. 24 seed CoCo Vandeweghe (VAN'-deh-way). Tenth seed Venus Williams and No. 14 Garbine Muguruza (moo-gah-ROO'-thuh) also reached the semifinals.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Coyotes have named Rick Tocchet (TAH'-ket) as their new head coach as the franchise tries to end what has become a six-year playoff drought. Tocchet returns to the desert after helping the Pittsburgh Penguins win the past two Stanley Cup titles. He spent one season as an assistant to Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky in 2005-06 after playing parts of three years for the team.
