SALT LAKE CITY — Three more fun stories from the world of sports in today's From Left Field!
Aaron Judge hits the roof
Monday night was the annual Major League Baseball Home Run Derby, displaying the power of the best sluggers baseball has to offer.
Here's the thing: Aaron Judge, the outfielder for the New York Yankees, laps the field. Want evidence? First, Judge hit the roof of Marlins Park with one of his long bombs.
Then, he hit four 500-foot home runs. No one else in the competition hit one.
Judge won the competition in a runaway.
Atlanta Hawks to pay for fans' wedding
Back in 2015, the Atlanta Hawks hosted "Swipe Right" night, a promotion where they encouraged fans to get on Tinder to meet each other at a Hawks game. One couple that met that night, Ben McCleskey and Avery Armstrong, have been dating ever since, and now they're getting married:
The Hawks said that they'd pay for the wedding if they ever got married, and it looks like that time has come. Congratulations!
DeMar DeRozan is frustrated
While the NBA's young and fringe players participate in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, some of the veterans are participating in leagues like the Drew League, a 40-year-old pro-am competition held in Los Angeles.
But the refereeing is probably not up to the standard players like DeMar DeRozan are used to, which resulted in this moment where DeRozan receives the inbounds pass and chucks the ball at the ref.
