SNOWBIRD, Utah (AP) — A Utah man celebrated his 100th birthday by doing what he loves most: Skiing. Snowbird Ski Resort took advantage of lingering snow to groom a short run for George Jedenoff to cruise down Wednesday before he was given a cake and plaque with one of his favorite sayings: "Age is just a number." Jedenoff was joined by several longtime skiing friends, his children and grandchildren, who came to see him attach a "100+ Ski Club" patch to his jacket.
MIDVALE, Utah (AP) — No one was hurt but 60 people have been displaced in a large apartment fire in south suburban Salt Lake City. The Unified Fire Authority said the Friday evening fire started in a third-story unit of the apartment complex in the city of Midvale.
PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — The state that catches most of America's lobster is trying to settle a decades-old debate: who makes the best lobster roll in the world? The Down East Lobster Roll Festival is holding the "World's Best Lobster Roll" competition on Saturday. Down East Magazine is hosting the event, which will feature 12 chefs competing for the coveted title.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A state report shows Utah police seized $1.4 million in cash last year from people under a law allowing law enforcement to take someone's property even if a person isn't charged or convicted of a crime. The report by the state Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice shows nearly all of the seized cash and other seized property came during investigations of alleged drug crimes.
