CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — A Wyoming teen has pleaded guilty to raping and trying to kill a 4-year-old girl. The Casper Star-Tribune reports Brandtly Bedsaul of Casper pleaded guilty Friday to charges of first-degree sexual assault of a minor and attempted murder as part of a plea agreement. If a judge agrees to the agreement, Bedsaul would be sentenced to 60 years to life in prison.
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — New devices have been inserted deep underground at the recreation area in the Wyoming portion of the Black Hills National Forest to monitor landslides. The Rapid City Journal reports that data from the devices is relayed to the smartphones of U.S. Forest Service employees, who can order an evacuation when conditions indicate the potential for a fast-moving landslide or mudslide. Black Hills National Forest geologist Karl Emanuel says there are numerous slow-moving landslides near the lake.
CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Two people were killed in a collision between a car and a pickup in Casper on Thursday night. The Wyoming Highway Patrol says a trooper had tried to stop the driver for speeding, but ended the pursuit when the car approached the city of Casper. The car continued into Casper and collided with a pickup at an intersection. Both people in the car died. Three people in the pickup where injured.
UNDATED (AP) — Evacuation orders have been lifted in Colorado and Montana towns threatened by wildfires. Residents of nearly 500 homes outside the ski town of Breckenridge, Colorado, were allowed to return home Friday night. Authorities lifted an evacuation order in Landusky, Montana, on Saturday. About 30 homes had been evacuated there.
