SAN ANTONIO (AP) — The Spurs will be without Kawhi (kuh-WY') Leonard tonight when San Antonio hosts Golden State in Game 3 of the NBA Western Conference finals. Coach Gregg Popovich says Leonard will sit out a second straight game with a sprained ankle. The Warriors lead the series 2-0. They haven't lost a game so far this postseason.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Anaheim Ducks host the Nashville Predators today in Game 5 of the NHL Western Conference finals. Nashville center Ryan Johansen is out for the rest of the playoffs after having emergency thigh surgery. He was injured during Thursday's loss that evened the series at 2-2.
HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Astros have placed ace Dallas Keuchel (KY'-kehl) on the 10-day disabled list with a pinched nerve in his neck. The move is retroactive to May 17, which means he might only miss one start. The left-hander has a 1.84 ERA, the lowest in the majors, and his seven wins are the most in the American League and tied for most overall. To take his place on the roster the Astros recalled left-hander Ashur Tolliver from Triple-A Fresno.
CHICAGO (AP) — This afternoon's game in Chicago between the Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers has been rained out. The game will be made up on July 6. The probable starters for today's game, Chase Anderson for the Brewers and Jake Arrieta for the Cubs, will pitch tomorrow.
BALTIMORE (AP) — Everything Lovely has kicked off the Preakness Stakes undercard with a front-running victory in the $100,000 Very One for filly and mare turf sprinters. The 5-year-old ridden by Javier Castellano held off Sunnysammi by a length and paid $7.80 to win. It was her sixth win in 20 starts, and a sharp rebound from last year when she finished 11th in this race.
