SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Bureau of Land Management is getting a new director in Utah. Selma Sierra will soon take over as director of the Utah office. B-L-M officials say she will replace acting director Henri Bisson this fall -- possibly November.
Sierra has been the chief of staff in B-L-M's Washington D-C office since April of 2005. Prior to that, she was acting chief of staff and served as the agency's Assistant Director for Communications.
Outside of the agency, B-L-M officials say Sierra has held several positions in government at both the city, state and federal levels.
Back in 1979, Sierra received Bachelor of Arts degrees in journalism and government from New Mexico State University. She's a native of New Mexico.
