TOKYO (AP) — North Korea is again drawing attention to itself with a new rocket-related test. The Korean Central News Agency says Pyongyang has successfully tested a new type of high-thrust engine to propel its rockets. The KCNA indicates the engine is to be used for the space program. North Korea is banned by the U.N from conducting long-range missile tests. But it claims its satellite program is for peaceful use. Many in the U.S. and elsewhere doubt that.
PARIS (AP) — A suspected Islamic extremist is dead after being fatally shot by French soldiers. A prosecutor says the 39-year-old man, who was born in France, attacked a soldier Saturday morning at Paris' Orly Airport and wrested away her assault rifle. The prosecutor says two colleagues on her patrol shot and killed the man before he could fire the military-grade weapon in the busy terminal. According to the soldiers, he yelled --quote-- " I am here to die for Allah."
HONOLULU (AP) — The government is asking a federal judge in Hawaii to clarify the scope of his order blocking President Trump's revised travel ban. A Justice Department motion filed Friday argues that Judge Derrick Watson's temporary restraining order shouldn't apply to new rules on refugees, but only to the temporary ban on travel from six mostly Muslim countries.
WASHINGTON (AP) — A longtime friend and adviser to President Donald Trump says he's been asked by the Senate intelligence committee to retain any documents that could be related to its investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election. Roger Stone says he welcomes the opportunity to publicly testify before lawmakers. Stone says neither he nor Trump "have anything to fear in a fair, balanced inquiry."
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Chuck Berry is credited with being rock 'n' roll's founding guitar hero and storyteller. Berry, who defined the music's joy and rebellion in such classics as "Johnny B. Goode," ''Sweet Little Sixteen" and "Roll Over Beethoven," died Saturday at his Missouri home at the age of 90. His work has influenced generations of musicians. In a statement, Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, says "One of my big lights has gone out!"
