OGDEN — Police have identified the man who died Friday evening after crashing into a tree.

Gene Roy Stanley, 76, was the driver who died at the scene, police said.

Stanley was driving a sedan northbound near 1600 South and Washington Boulevard in Ogden about 5:20 p.m. when he veered off the right side of the roadway and hit the tree, Ogden Police Lt. Brian Eynon said.

There were two passengers in the vehicle with Stanley, both of whom were family members, police said.

The 43-year-old man and 74-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and were still hospitalized Saturday, police said.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
