OGDEN — City administrators released police body camera and surveillance videos Friday of an officer-involved shooting that left a man dead.
The incident happened Feb. 21, 2017. Ogden police say two officers patrolling a parking structure at The Junction, 2400 S. Washington Blvd., saw two men "prowling around unoccupied vehicles." The officers chased one of the men though the retail complex, before police say he pulled a handgun on them.
Surveillance video released Friday showed the man running from the officers, then turning and raising what appears to be a gun at the officers as they approach. The officers fired on the man, killing him.
The man was later identified as Bartolo Justice Sambrano, 25. Police said he had warrants for his arrest out of Ogden and Idaho and had recently walked away from the Weber County Jail work release program.
A public information officer with the Ogden Police Department said the department's internal investigation found that the officers acted in accordance with their policy.
The Weber County Attorney's Office was still investigating the case.
