HERRIMAN — Unified police are warning the public to lock their car doors after a string of thefts in Herriman.
Police say since March 5, there have been 11 cases of car burglaries off of 12300 South between 4000 and 5000 West.
Early Wednesday morning, Herriman resident Cody Sorensen was hit.
"Came out in the morning and the door wasn't all the way open, but it was open like someone had just been in there," he said.
Sorensen had his binoculars and a camera stolen from his unlocked truck. The items were used for his hunting trips.
"I honestly think it's pretty annoying, you know," he said. "People should be able to leave their stuff out and not be bothered with."
Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke said the department is working off of several images from multiple nights caught on residents' surveillance cameras.
"Normally we look at a single suspect targeting the area, but in this case, it looks like we have multiple suspects."
Lohrke said the two or possibly three suspects used different modes of transportation. One night it was a Toyota Prius, the next day it was a bicycle.
"These types of burglaries are often drug related, so even though the items that they are stealing may not end up in pawn shops, it's being traded for drugs," he said.
Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to call Unified Police at 801-743-7000.
