*Tonya Papanikolas Reporting*UPDATE: Ryan McManigal was never formally charged and the case was dismissed

Early Sunday morning in Taylorsville, a mostly peaceful neighborhood is rocked by gunfire.

Police say that was the end of a rowdy party that included fights all night long. But this isn't the first time there's been trouble at the home.

The owner of the home may have pulled the trigger to defend himself.

Officers blocked off the Taylorsville street as they took pictures and used metal detectors to search for bullet casings Sunday morning.

Sgt. Rosie Rivera, Taylorsville Police Department: "Our biggest concern right now is we're finding rounds that actually hit neighbors' homes."

One bullet hit right above the garage at Chris and Ruth Roberts' home.

Ruth Roberts, Neighbor: "I thought it would make me feel afraid. But I was furious. It made me so mad."

Police say the shooting happened during a party at the home. Around 7:00 am, a few men got in a fight. One neighbor, who didn't want to be identified, saw the altercation.

Neighbor: "One guy had the other one on the ground. He looked like he was hitting him."

That fight broke up, and the men involved left. But 10 minutes later, they came back.

Sgt. Rivera: "The front door was actually kicked in. That's when the homeowner came out with the gun."

Neighbor: "He shot down the street, chasing these people."

Chris Roberts, Neighbor: "Heard about four or five shots, and then some people left screaming out of here."

Neighbor: "I was right in the line of fire."

"It was bang, bang, bang. I didn't stick around. I just ran back in and called the police."

The two victims were shot in the thigh and the ankle. Together with another man, they got in a truck and headed to a home in West Jordan.

Sgt. Rosie Rivera: "On the way to that address, they did strike a vehicle and continue to keep going."

When they arrived at the house, they called police and were taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, the homeowner in Taylorsville who shot at the men was questioned and then arrested.

The homeowner is 28-year-old Ryan McManigal. Police booked him in jail for reckless endangerment for shooting outside while neighbors were in the line of fire.

Police say other charges could follow, both for him and the two men who were shot. One of them has been released from the hospital, the other is going to be okay, too.

Neighbors say there have been many parties at that home over the past several years, with beer bottles sometimes left on the lawn of that home and the neighbors.
