METAIRIE, La. (AP) — Three people were shot to death and a fourth fatally stabbed at an apartment complex in suburban New Orleans early Wednesday, authorities said.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office got a call around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday from a woman who said she'd been shot. Deputies found the wounded woman along with three bodies — two men and a woman, all shot in the head — at an apartment in Metairie.
Investigators then found a fourth body in a nearby apartment after obtaining a search warrant to enter through its open door. That victim had been stabbed multiple times in the head.
It was unclear how all the victims were connected.
A sheriff's statement identifies the shooting victims as 40-year-old Kyle Turner of Laplace, and the apartment's residents: 56-year-old John Edward Henry and 61-year-old Rosemary Charles. The man stabbed in his apartment nearby was 56-year-old Harold Frissard.
The wounded woman's name is being withheld.
Sheriff Newell Normand said one officer was injured trying to clear a live round from a weapon found at the scene. The weapon was pointed down when it discharged, but the bullet hit concrete and some bricks, pieces of which hit the officer in the face. "He's fine," Normand said.
