WASHINGTON (AP) — The Federal Reserve has left little doubt that it will raise interest rates today for the third time since December 2015 to reflect a consistently solid U.S economy. But even with increases, rates are expected to remain at historically low levels. That means that while loan rates for consumers and businesses will rise, they will stay relatively low.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is criticizing the reporter who released a portion of Trump's 2005 tax return, casting doubt on the reporter's claims that he received the documents in the mail, unsolicited. The forms showed Trump earned $153 million and paid $36.5 million in income taxes in 2005.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is moving against Obama-era environmental rules. The president travels today to Detroit, where he will announce plans to re-examine federal requirements regulating the fuel efficiency of new cars and trucks. Emissions targets were a centerpiece of former President Barack Obama's strategy to combat global warming.

BERLIN (AP) — German authorities today searched the offices of luxury automaker Audi in connection with the scandal over emissions tests by its parent company, Volkswagen. VW has admitted it equipped diesel engines with software that detected when the vehicle was being tested and turned the emissions controls off during everyday driving.

VACAVILLE, Calif. (AP) — Wildlife experts in Northern California will try again today to rescue a young sea lion that's in a place he shouldn't be. So far, the animal has evaded their attempts to flush him out of a drainage pipe in a canal in Vacaville. It's unclear how the sea lion got into the canal in the first place.
