BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A Boise Democrat who was blocked by a key Republican lawmaker from holding a legislative hearing on climate change succeeded in securing more than 500 attendees when she decided to host her own event at the Idaho Capitol. Rep. Ilana Rubel says House Environment, Energy and Technology Chairman Dell Raybould denied her request to hold an informational event on the effects of climate change in Idaho earlier this year.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho Senate panel has advance a $51 million tax cut proposal, but only after promising that the measure will have to be heavily amended if it's going to survive the body. The bill, backed by House Majority Leader Mike Moyle of Star, would exempt the first $750 of income from taxation, as well as reduce the top income and corporate rates from 7.4 percent to 7.2 percent.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The latest version of a massive transportation proposal almost died before even being introduced in the Idaho Legislature after the bill's sponsor didn't show up on time. Sen. Bert Brackett on Wednesday was supposed to present a new multi-million funding proposal designed to funnel more money to the state's aging roads and bridges.

BONNERS FERRY, Idaho (AP) — A grain train has derailed because of a mud slide in Idaho's Boundary County. Boundary County Emergency Management says Wednesday's derailment involved 12 cars.
