OGDEN — A wanted man died early Tuesday morning after being rescued from the roof of a burning home in Ogden the week prior, authorities said.
Bobby J. Orris, 42, had a warrant issued for his arrest March 7 for probation violation after being convicted of felony DUI in 2016, according to court records. He was renting a basement room at 2831 S. Monroe Blvd. when two Adult Probation and Parole officers came to check on him after Orris's sister asked them to do a welfare check for an undisclosed reason.
The [officers arrived at the home around 6 p.m.](<http://www.ksl.com/?sid=43422054&nid=148 >) and knocked on the door, but walked away from the front porch when no one answered the door. As they were about to get into their car, the house exploded behind them, according to Adult Probation and Parole director Jim Hudsepth.
The explosion instantly produced flames 30 feet high, according to witnesses.

One of the officers kicked in the front door as firefighters arrived to see if anyone was inside. During the search, Orris climbed from the house onto the roof before the officers and firefighters helped him down.
Both officers were taken to a local hospital but were shortly released.
Orris, however, died a week later, according to the University of Utah Healthcare.
Details about what led to Orris' death were not immediately released and Ogden deputy fire chief Eric Bauman did not comment Tuesday on the man's condition when he was taken from the scene or whether he sustained any injuries in the fire.
Officials have not yet stated whether they believe the fire was set intentionally.
Orris had been convicted in 2016 of felony DUI. His sentence of up to five years at the Utah State Prison was suspended, and he was placed on probation. He had violated that probation several times by drinking, however, and was suspected of drinking again on March 6, according to court records.
AP&P agents looking for Orris on March 6 called him on his cellphone and his speech was slurred and slow, court records state. After talking to him on the phone several times, Orris admitted to AP&P agents that he had been drinking, but he didn't want to tell them where he was because he was afraid they would take him to jail, according to court records.
AP&P officers went to the house on Monroe on March 6 as well, but did not find Orris there. They received information that he may be planning to leave Utah to live with his mother in Las Vegas, the warrant states.
