WEST VALLEY CITY — Police are looking for a man and a woman in connection with two stolen vehicles, a pursuit and a three-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon.

West Valley police received a call from someone who was following a van that "started driving erratically,” said West Valley police Lt. Amy Maurer.

Police were en route when "we received reports of a rollover" Maurer said, at the intersection of 3200 W. 3100 South.

“(The van) came to a red light at 3200 West and collided with two vehicles that were north- and southbound in the intersection," Maurer said.

After the collision, a man driving a 2010 Toyota Prius stopped to help. Maurer said the man and woman in the van got out and took the Prius.

“The two occupants of the stolen van took a Good Samaritan’s car, took off down 3100 South to Redwood Road and left the area,” Maurer said.

Police later confirmed that the van had been reported as stolen.

Maurer said medical personnel were dispatched to the scene, but there were no reported injuries.

As of Sunday night, police had not been able to locate the Prius.

“We're recovering the stolen vehicle that was involved in the accident,” Maurer said. “We have two vehicles that were involved in the accident that we've had to take care of. And we're currently investigating (the) freshly-stolen Prius.”

Maurer said the man and woman involved in the crash are Hispanic. No further information was given and police said the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Valley City police at 801-840-4000.
