SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah officials are considering five locations for a new homeless center, including three in West Valley City and two in South Salt Lake.
Salt Lake County announced on Friday that they would like to hear from the public about these options before a state committee makes a final decision. The public can give their feedback during open houses scheduled for next week.
In the recently completed legislative session, Utah lawmakers approved about $10 million to help with three homeless resource centers to deal with Salt Lake City's overflowing downtown shelter. Two of the shelters will be built in the city, while the third will likely be in one of these five locations.
Salt Lake City was initially going to add four homeless centers, but last month officials announced they would only build two.
