SALT LAKE COUNTY — A West Valley man was killed Thursday morning when his car collided with and went underneath a semitrailer.
Antonio Martinez, 27, was headed north in a Ford Taurus on Bangerter Highway about 6:20 a.m. At the California Avenue (1300 South) intersection, witnesses told investigators that the Taurus ran a red light, and went under a semitrailer headed west, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce.
Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene. He was headed to work at the Salt Lake City International Airport. It was not known if distracted driving was a factor.
The crash resulted in Bangerter being shut down at California Avenue for several hours.
