WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump is facing a crucial first test of his presidency. Republican leaders are making clear they'll rely on his bully pulpit and popularity with conservative voters to help them sell their proposed health care plan to restive lawmakers and other groups. The GOP plan to repeal and replace the current health care law has come under attack from conservatives and medical groups, the AARP and Democrats.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman is expected to be the next U.S. ambassador to Russia, a high-profile and sensitive post. A White House official says President Donald Trump offered Huntsman the position earlier this week and that he has indicated he will accept it. Huntsman has twice before served as an ambassador. He held the post in Singapore under President George H.W. Bush and in China under President Barack Obama.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Google believes it has already protected people using Android-powered phones and its Chrome operating system from many of the security weaknesses disclosed by WikiLeaks. The anti-secrecy site has released thousands of documents it claims show a broad program by the CIA to turn everyday gadgets into snooping tools by exploiting software flaws. Apple says it has fixed many of the problems that made iPhones and iPads vulnerable.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Women across the country are trying to make a very important point. Many American women stayed home from work, joined rallies or wore red on Wednesday to demonstrate how vital they are to the U.S. economy. The Day Without a Woman protest, inspired in part by the Day Without an Immigrant protest held last month, was part of the U.N.-designated International Women's Day.

NAPLES, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Highway Patrol says a portion of Interstate 75 known as Alligator Alley has been reopened as firefighters work to contain a 7,500-acre wildfire. The Naples Daily News reports that the highway was reopened this evening. But officials say they will reclose the road if visibility worsens. A Florida Forest Service spokeswoman says the fire has destroyed two homes in eastern Collier County. No injuries have been reported.
