PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — There's still silence from the White House over what prompted President Donald Trump to send a series of tweets Saturday morning accusing former president Barack Obama of ordering his telephones at trump Tower tapped during last year's elections. The tweets included politically charged references to Watergate and McCarthyism but no evidence. One Republican Senator said Trump should present any evidence he has.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Vice President Mike Pence is taking umbrage with The Associated Press for what he calls a violation of privacy and security. The AP listed his wife's email address in a story about his frequent resistance to public records requests while Indiana's governor. Pence says in a tweet that his lawyer has penned a letter to Gary Pruitt, the AP's president and CEO. An AP spokeswoman says the AP stands by the story and that the address was pulled when the company learned it was still active.

BEIJING (AP) — China's premier says it's time to clear the air. Premier Li Keqiang (lee kuh-TYAHNG') pledged today to make the country's smoggy skies blue again and "work faster" to address pollution caused by the burning of coal for heat and electricity. His words to delegates at the opening of the annual National People's Congress highlight how public discontent has made reducing smog, the most visible of China's environment problems, a priority.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — The latest militant attack on a police checkpoint in Afghanistan has killed at least five members of the Afghan security forces. The attack happened in northeastern Kunduz province. Gen. Abdul Hamid Hamid, provincial police chief in Kunduz, said a large group of Taliban fighters attacked the post. Meanwhile, 18 insurgents were killed by airstrikes in another part of Kunduz province, according to the Interior Ministry.

WARWICK, Mass. (AP) — A mother and four children are dead after flames swept through their home in the small town of Warwick, Massachusetts. Officials say the bodies were recovered from the rubble after the fire was extinguished. Two other family members escaped and were taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. Investigators say the fire may have started in a wood stove.
