GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — DJ Miles sank four crucial free throws in the final minute and scored 16 points to help Northern Colorado beat Sacramento State 70-67 in the regular season finale for both schools on Saturday.
An Eric Stuteville jumper gave the Hornets (12-17, 9-9 Big Sky) a 67-66 lead with 1:12 left. But Sacramento State went 0-for-3 the rest of the way and four straight free throws from Miles gave Northern Colorado a 70-67 lead with 13 seconds to go. Trevis Jackson had a look to tie it, but missed with five seconds on the clock.
Jordan Davis finished with 14 points while Jonah Radebaugh and Roberto Vercellino each added 13 for the Bears (11-18, 7-11).
Marcus Graves had 18 points to lead Sacramento State. Nick Hornsby finished with 16 and Justin Strings added 14.
Sacramento State is locked into the No.7 seed in the Big Sky Tournament. Northern Colorado is ineligible for the conference tournament due to a self-imposed ban.
