CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- K.J. Gerard intercepted a pass in the end zone with 23 seconds remaining to seal Northern Arizona's 19-14 win over Southern Utah on Saturday night.
Gerard outleaped Tysson Poots on a 6-yard pass from Cody Stone after Southern Utah drove 84 yards in the final two minutes.
Northern Arizona (2-1) held Southern Utah (1-3) to minus-26 yards rushing on 13 carries.
Stone completed 17 of 48 passes for 304 yards.
Lance Kriesien gave the Lumberjacks the lead when he escaped a sack and scored on an 8-yard touchdown run with 5:24 left in the game. Southern Utah had gone up 14-13 early in the fourth on a 5-yard touchdown from Stone to Jared Ursa.
