The man who helped murder a hair salon owner in Salt Lake's Glendale neighborhood is headed to prison.

Jesus Jimenez will spend at least 21 years behind bars. Police say Jimenez and Miguel Mateos-Martinez robbed "The Shop" salon in Glendale in August of 2007. Then, police say Martinez gunned down the salon's owner, Faviola Hernandez, even though she was cooperating with the robbers.

Jimenez was the getaway driver, but a jury still convicted him of felony murder and aggravated robbery.

The victim's family couldn't believe he wouldn't take any responsiblity.

The victim's mother, Rosa Hernandez, said, "It's making me sick in my stomach. People can think he drove another person to kill another human being, and he thinks he didn't do nothing wrong. That's cold blood."

As for the accused gunman, Miguel Mateos-Martinez, U.S. Marshals arrested him in July in Ensenada, Mexico. He's still in jail in Mexico City. Utah prosecutors have charged him with aggravated murder, making him eligible for the death penalty. One reason why it's taking a while to extradite him back to the U.S. is that Mexico has a policy of denying extradition unless Mexican officials know the defendant will not receive the death penalty. The District Attorney's Office has agreed to not seek the death penalty.

The prosecutor says Jimenez is planning to appeal this conviction.
