(KSL News) A clerk at a pet store was injured when he tried to stop a shoplifter.

It happened last night at the PetSmart near 300 West and 1800 South.

A woman entered the store, and employees watched her carefully because they recognized her as someone who had previously stolen from the store.

When she tried to leave, they tried to stop her at the door.

Lt. James Tracy of the Salt Lake City Police Department said, "While the employees were trying to get a hold of her, she jumped into a car driven by a different female. While that female was trying to escape, she hit one of the employees with her vehicle."

The employee received minor injuries.

Police are still searching for both women.
