(KSL News) The war and the battered economy get a lot of political discussion this election year, but some people are asking for more focus on our children.
Today kids and their parents were invited to the first-ever "Step Up for Kids" fair. It included fun activities for the kids and child advocacy information for the adults.
Some state lawmakers attended the fair, and advocates say that's important. Chris Bray, the executive director of the Children Services Society of Utah, said, "There's a lot of children in poverty, a lot of children who don't have health care, a lot of children being abused and neglected. And there's things that parents can do and things that officials that are elected can do to help the children in our state."
Child advocates hope the fair has an impact on lawmakers.
