Some of Salt Lake City's neighbors must soon decide whether to join the city. Millcreek Township and Magna could be annexed by Salt Lake City, if there is a consensus.
"Most people I think, because they don't understand the situation, they just kinda feel like status quo," said, Councilman J.T. Martin. He says the legislature has set 2010 as the deadline for unincorporated areas to make up their minds.
Martin says, "We would gain a larger tax base." Along with that would come more responsibilities, like paying for sewer and garbage. But would that mean higher taxes? Martin says it's complicated, but he doesn't think so.
