PROVO, Utah (AP) — Utah County authorities say a man was shot and wounded by his father after attacking his parents, who were left seriously injured.
The Daily Herald reports (http://bit.ly/2iNlEWR ) that police responded to a Hobble Creek Canyon home Tuesday to a report that 29-year-old Jesse Peterson was beating his parents with fists and various household objects.
At some point during the incident, Keith Peterson shot his son in both legs.
Jesse Peterson was initially hospitalized in critical condition but later reported to be stabilized.
Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon says the 29-year-old will be jailed on suspicion of aggravated assault when he's released from the hospital.
The 68-year-old father and 67-year-old mother suffered blunt force trauma during the incident and were hospitalized in serious condition.
Authorities say the shooting was a self-defense situation.
