PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Donald Trump is criticizing the Obama administration's decision to let the U.N. Security Council condemn Israeli settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem. In a striking break from past practice, the United States abstained in today's vote -- allowing the U.N. Security Council to condemn the settlements as a "flagrant violation" of international law. In doing so, the Obama administration brushed aside Trump's demands that the U.S. exercise its veto. Trump says in a tweet, "Things will be different after January 20th."
MILAN (AP) — In a video released by the Islamic State group, the suspect in the Berlin truck attack is seen pledging allegiance to the group's leader. The video was released online today. It appears to have been taken by the suspect himself, near the scene of Monday's attack on a Christmas market. But it's not clear whether the video was made before or after the attack.
OUESLATIA, Tunisia (AP) — The mother of Anis Amri says the world may never know why he may have rammed a truck through a holiday crowd at a Berlin Christmas market on Monday, killing 12 people. Family members in Tunisia are mourning the death of the suspect in that attack. Amri was killed in a shootout with Italian police today in Milan. His mother wants his remains to be sent home -- and she also wants to know who else may have been involved in the attack.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Democrats say they will closely examine stock trades by President-elect Donald Trump's nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. The Wall Street Journal reports that Republican congressman Tom Price of Georgia traded more than $300,000 in shares of health care-related companies in recent years while backing legislation that could potentially affect them.
DEARBORN, Mo. (AP) — Missouri authorities say an armed trucker is in custody after his hours-long standoff at a rest stop near Kansas City forced the closure of the freeway ahead of the holiday weekend. The patrol said the standoff began shortly before 9 a.m. following reports of a man pointing a rifle at traffic. Authorities evacuated the rest area, leaving only the unidentified trucker and officers. No shots were fired. Televised aerial footage shows traffic in both directions of I-29 backed up for miles.
