BERLIN (AP) — An international manhunt is on for a Tunisian man German authorities believe carried out Monday's truck attack on a Christmas market in Berlin, killing 12 and injuring 48. Twenty-four-year-old Anis Amri is considered the prime suspect in the rampage, and authorities say he's a convicted criminal who was denied asylum in Germany and has evaded deportation.
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Gunmen have stormed the home of a lawmaker in Afghanistan's capital, killing eight people. Police say the wounded lawmaker jumped from the roof to escape. The Taliban are claiming responsibility for Wednesday night's attack in Kabul, saying they targeted a meeting of military officials. The lawmaker is from the restive southern Helmand province.
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency acknowledges that hundreds of Ohio emergency responders were exposed to the potentially fatal toxin ricin (RY'-sin) while training at a FEMA facility in Alabama. FEMA officials say they've received no reports of illness as a result of the exposure. Staff at the FEMA facility mistakenly purchased high-toxicity ricin that was used in nine training sessions beginning in 2011.
WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump's son Eric says he'll stop directly raising money for his namesake charitable foundation because he worries the donations will be perceived as a way to buy access to his father. Eric Trump says it pains him to stop soliciting donations for his organization, which raises money in the name of children's cancer. The foundation has come under scrutiny in recent days after posting an online auction for coffee with Eric's sister Ivanka.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Colo is celebrating a milestone. The female gorilla at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium turns 60 years old on Thursday. Colo is the first gorilla in the world born in a zoo and has surpassed the usual life expectancy of captive gorillas by two decades. She's a mother of three, grandmother of 16, great-grandmother of 12 and great-great-grandmother of three. Zoo officials recently removed a malignant tumor but say she's doing well.
