BERLIN (AP) — Germany's interior minister confirms that authorities are seeking a new suspect in the deadly truck attack on a Christmas market in Berlin. And a lawmaker with Germany's governing conservatives says the new suspect is thought to be a Tunisian with ties to Islamic extremists. He says the man, whose wallet was found in the cab of the truck that slammed into a busy Christmas market in the German capital Monday evening, was apparently meant to be deported from Germany earlier this year. The lawmaker spoke after a briefing by security officials about the investigation into the truck attack that left 12 people dead and nearly 50 injured.
DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — Syrian TV says rebel evacuations have resumed from Aleppo, paving the way for the government to reassume control of the war-torn city. It said five buses had arrived at a crossing between the rebel and government sides of the city, after rebels handed over pro-government fighters they took prisoner during previous rounds of fighting. Syrian opposition forces agreed to surrender their last foothold in the city to the government last week. But a dispute delayed the final round of evacuations for over 24 hours after some 20,000 civilians and fighters were bused out.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina lawmakers are meeting today to consider repealing a state law that limited LGBT rights, including which restrooms transgender people can use in public schools and government buildings. But a last-minute obstacle has come up in the negotiations between state lawmakers and Charlotte officials, whose ordinance banning discrimination prompted the state law. A Republican lawmaker says some House Republicans are concerned that the city did not repeal its entire ordinance Monday.
NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are slightly lower as the Dow Jones industrial average remains just short of the 20,000-point mark. Bank stocks are taking some of the largest losses this morning. Energy companies rose as the price of oil inched up 0.3 percent.
NEW YORK (AP) — Actress Lena Dunham of HBO's "Girls" is apologizing for saying she wished she'd had an abortion. Dunham made the comment on last week's episode of her "Women Of The Hour" podcast. She's now apologizing on Instagram for what she called "a distasteful joke." She said she "would never, ever intentionally trivialize the emotional and physical challenges of terminating a pregnancy."
