(KSL News) The young boy injured by the blast of a homemade firework will soon be going home.
Bridger Hunt was released from Primary Children's Medical Center this afternoon after a two-month stay and several surgeries. He'll be staying briefly at a relative's house until his own home can be made accessible for his wheelchair.
He says he is making progress on his recovery. "I'm walking more, and I have a new brace for my foot," Bridger said.
Bridger plans to be back in school in early October.
While he is grateful for the help he got from doctors, he says it's good not having to breathe "hospital air."
Hunt was injured on Pioneer Day when a neighbor set off a pipe bomb.
